NEW YORK—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 27, 2006—Register.com, Inc., a leading provider of global domain name registration and Web business services, today introduced its latest Web site design offering known as Build-It-For-Me (BIFM) + eCommerce. As a response to significant demand, Register.com small business customers can now have a complete online storefront designed and ready for business transactions in as little as a couple of weeks. A recent Register.com commissioned survey found that nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have taken the initial steps toward starting their own businesses or supplementing their incomes - Register.com has now made it that much easier for them to do so.
Register.com works with ProStores(TM), an eBay® Company, to provide Register.com customers with an industry-leading eCommerce solution that enables them to create professional online stores. The solution provides sophisticated capabilities such as inventory management, shopping cart functionality, payment solutions, search engine optimization, and seamlessly integrates with eBay marketplace to capture eBay customers and sales.
“Our BIFM solution, which recently received an Excellence in Technology Award from SmallBusinessComputing.com, is primed for this natural extension of eCommerce capabilities for small businesses,” noted Monica Hodges, general manager of Retail at Register.com. “We all know that big business is well established both online and in eCommerce, but small businesses - the driving force of our nation’s economy - and their owners, now have an easy option to begin their own push toward eCommerce. Millions of Americans have a business idea they’d like to get off the page but just haven’t had the time or money to do so until now. An online storefront that would normally cost thousands of dollars with a private Web designer can now be obtained easily and inexpensively at Register.com.”
Those small business owners who have traditionally shied away from selling online because of time, resources and/or technical limitations, can now secure a unique, professionally designed five-page Web site. The eCommerce software then provides a shopping cart through which customers can easily begin selling their products and services. They may sell up to 100 products through an online catalog; integrate shipping tables with FedEx®, UPS(TM), or Canada Post; operate integrated storefront management tools; and sign-up, post and manage auction-style and fixed price listings on eBay.
“My Web site has become an absolutely essential ingredient to growing my business, and I can’t imagine doing it without the help, guidance and support of the Register.com team,” said Vernon Graves, owner of Michigan Place Banquet Center. “The new BIFM offering with an eCommerce function will clearly help many more small businesses like mine get up and running in just a matter of weeks and quickly start down the road to growth.”
As an additional feature, BIFM + eCommerce users are offered an enhanced monthly Web site fitness program. Traditionally BIFM users received 30 minutes of professional consultation a month; however BIFM + eCommerce users get an additional 30 minutes per month (1 full hour) to focus on their eCommerce strategy and promotional plans. The hour-long, one-on-one monthly phone session with a Web professional includes guidance and advice for how to optimize an eCommerce Web site, including:
