July 18, 2006 – (TopHosts News Brief) – At HostingCon 2006 in Las Vegas (July 17-19), the premier Web hosting industry conference and trade show, Microsoft Corp. announced the availability of Microsoft Solution for Windows-based Hosting Version 4.0. Microsoft reports that its solution will help hosting providers quickly launch new services, target developers of Web applications and improve operational efficiency in their business.
Microsoft says the updated solution supports the recently launched Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0, and provides guidance to Web hosts just starting their businesses with Windows.
“There is a significant trend toward commoditization at the lower end of the Web hosting market, driving service providers of all sizes to seek new ways to add value, increase revenues and lower costs,” John Zanni, director of worldwide hosting at Microsoft, said in a PR Newswire release. “With the added support for updated Microsoft products SQL Server 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0 in version 4.0 of the Solution for Windows-based Hosting, we’re giving service providers the ability to easily host software-as-a-service applications and target the developers who are building them.”
Windows-based Hosting Version 4.0 allows Web hosts to decrease costs by providing guidance for improving server density and automating common infrastructure management tasks. The new version also allows hosting providers to offer highly profitable managed services to their customers and resellers, including database hosting with SQL Server 2005 and security update management.
Microsoft Solution for Windows-based Hosting Version 4.0 will be available on Aug. 4. For more on Microsoft’s hosting solutions visit http://www.microsoft.com/hosting.
