September 11, 2006 – 1&1 Internet, Inc. (1&1), a United Internet Web hosting subsidiary, announced that it was selected as the most reliable hosting company for August 2006. According to an independent survey by Netcraft, 1&1 was perfect for the month, with no downtime and no failed requests and performed better than the fifty leading hosting providers.
“This month’s leaderboard provides an interesting contrast, demonstrating that hosting customers can find good network connectivity at either end of the hosting spectrum. 1&1 is one of the cheapest providers, offering shared hosting accounts starting at $2.99 per month,” is the conclusion of the survey.
According to Netcraft, the percentage of failed requests is more pertinent to customers than outages on the hosting companies’ own sites, as this gives a pointer to reliability of routing, and this is why they choose to rank their table by fewest failed requests, rather than shortest periods of outage. 1&1 ranked at the top position with an outage of 0:00:00 and 0.00 % failed requests.
“Obviously we are extremely happy with these results,” commented Neil Simpkins, spokesman of 1&1 Internet, Inc., Chesterbrook, PA. “The survey proves that for running either a private or a business Website, 1&1 delivers the best value for the money in the Hosting industry.”
Netcraft compared the response times of fifty leading hosting providers’ sites. The performance measurements were made at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.
