December 18, 2006 – (TopHosts News Brief) – XO Communications today announced it has significantly expanded the Web hosting capacity and total processing power of its Concentric Clustered Web Hosting services platform.
XO deployed new servers from Sun Microsystems that lower data center power consumption while providing Concentric customers with a 100 percent increase in processing resources to support their Web hosting plans. The move is sensitive to today’s energy conscious consumer and the environment.
XO launched Sun’s new Sun Fire(TM) T2000 servers featuring the UltraSPARC® T1 processor with CoolThreads(TM) technology, delivering breakthrough performance with dramatic space and power efficiency. The UltraSparc T1 processor has eight cores, each with four independent threads, providing a total of 32 processing elements per processor. With the new server deployment, the pool of processing capacity is significantly larger, giving Concentric Web hosting customers increased capacity and computing power.
“We believe the Sun Fire T2000 servers with CoolThreads technology are a perfect match for XO’s high performance Concentric Web Hosting platform,” Warren Mootrey, senior director for Sun’s volume SPARC servers, said in a PRNewswire release. “Sun technology allows XO to grow the capacity of the Concentric Web Hosting platform even further without increasing power consumption or data center footprint.”
