March 19, 2007 – GoDaddy.com® is officially the world’s top SSL Hosting company, according to the latest Netcraft® report. The widely respected industry analyst’s March report shows Go Daddy led all hosting companies in SSL-enabled sites.
The world’s leading domain name registrar became a Certificate Authority just three years ago. By 2006, Go Daddy dominated SSL hosting growth, leading the competition in 11 of the 12 months. Already this year, GoDaddy.com was able to leapfrog the long-time leader for the undisputed top spot.
“Go Daddy has shown steady growth since emerging as a Certificate Authority and continues to add new SSL-secured sites faster than any other host,” said Rich Miller, an analyst for Netcraft, Ltd. “As a growing number of Web site operators seek to add e-commerce capabilities, Go Daddy’s SSL offering has proven to be a popular way for hosting customers to secure their sites.”
“We are honored to be the largest SSL hosting provider in the world. From the inception of our efforts as a certificate authority, we have always worked to bring together the right combination of product, price and service,” said Warren Adelman, President and COO of GoDaddy.com. “As both a hosting company and a certificate authority, we believe we are uniquely positioned to meet our customers’ needs.”
In their latest report, Netcraft echoes this, saying, “The change on the leader-board reflects Go Daddy’s rapid progress in transforming itself from a domain name specialist into a full-service hosting provider.”
An SSL Certificate enables Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption of online transactions and communications. GoDaddy.com SSL Certificates are offered in three assurance validation levels: Turbo (medium assurance), High Assurance and the new Extended Validation. All GoDaddy.com certificates are 256-bit encryption enabled.
A vetting process is done for all Go Daddy SSL Certificates. Once approved, the certificate is automatically installed on all Go Daddy shared hosting, Website Tonight® and Quick Shopping Cart® plans, saving customers time and effort.
