May 2, 2007 – (TopHosts News Brief) – Sun Microsystems, Inc. announced the launch of Web hosting based on the Solaris 10 Operating System(OS), and Sun systems and storage.
Through the Sun partner hosting initiative, Web hosting partners Joyent and NaviSite can offer low-cost infrastructure and services to help startup companies grow their business. Launched in November 2006, the Sun Startup Essentials program assists eligible U.S. based startup companies get to market faster while saving money. U.S. based members of the Sun Startup Essentials program can take advantage of this offer.

Joyent and NaviSite are utilizing Solaris Container virtualization technology, part of the advanced Solaris 10 OS, to deliver secure and high-performance infrastructure to help deploy next-generation Web applications that can scale based on demand. Sun’s partners also supply services to manage and monitor their hosted environments.
