July 18, 2007 - (TopHosts News Brief) - After meeting rigorous privacy policy requirements, Uplinkearth announced today that it obtained the TRUSTe Web Privacy Seal. TRUSTe is a nonprofit organization, which facilitates trust based on privacy for personal information on the internet.
“Protecting the privacy of our users is a very important priority,” Michael Yablonowitz, Uplinkearth president and CEO, said in a company press release. “We’ve taken the time to participate in this rigorous program to demonstrate our dedication to privacy online, and to underscore our commitment to protecting the rights of visitors to our web site and users of our services.”
As a TRUSTe licensed site, Uplinkearth is required to offer a set of user controls, including an email unsubscribe function, an opt-out function limiting the sharing of personally identifiable information (PII) with outside parties, and access management permitting users to update stored PII or have it changed by the company.
Uplinkearth must also use the Secured Socket Layer (SSL) technology that encrypts pages collecting sensitive information, such as credit card numbers. There is also a set of requirements Uplinkearth’s privacy policy must meet pertaining to personally identifiable information collected by the company.
