September 25, 2007 (TopHosts NewsWire) – A recent survey conducted by manged Web hosting leader, Rackspace found that environmental responsibility is a growing concern for its customers.
The survey found that 62 percent of respondents were concerned about the impact their company had on the environment and were looking for ways to reduce it or actively addressing the issue. The survey also found that 52 percent were willing to pay five to 10 percent more for green products and service offerings. 51 percent were willing to trade five to 10 percent of server performance for lower carbon emissions.
“Although our customers responded that they would be willing to pay more and even trade some performance for lower carbon emissions, the good thing is that advances in technology seem to be filling the gap so that they shouldn’t have to make major sacrifices to address these environmental concerns,” John Engates, Rackspace’s CTO said in a statement issued by the company. “Rackspace is taking full advantage of advances in green IT by implementing new technologies like AMD’s new Quad-Core Opteron processor and our new data center that will be powered by renewable energy.”
Rackspace announced its GreenSpace initiative in June 2007. The Web host is working with a number of green companies on the program, which promotes energy conservation through a number of offerings.
