October 26, 2007 (TopHosts News Brief) Web host SAVVIS, Inc. announced the opening of a new data center in Sterling, Virginia.
The facility will initially offer 30,000 square feet of raised floor space. It will provide customers with up to 224 watts per square foot of conditioned power delivered by a five bus electrical system and backed up with constant power supplies and diesel generators. Future plans call for additional expansion of the raised floor within this facility.
“The Federal Government and related suppliers such as prime contractors are increasingly demanding secure, flexible, and on-demand hosting and services from their IT vendors,” Don Teague, vice president of SAVVIS’ Federal Systems, said in a statement issued by the company. “By specializing in providing an integrated set of high performance IT services, SAVVIS’ virtualized and managed IT utility services are playing an increasingly important role in the IT operations of federal agencies and commercial businesses.”
The Web host recently opened three additional new data centers in Atlanta, Silicon Valley and the New York/New Jersey area. It recently announced plans for three more data centers in Chicago, Boston and Dallas that are expected to open in late 2007 and early 2008.
