December 24, 2007 (TopHosts News Brief) - Tier1 Research (T1R), a technology advisory firm, has released its latest report on the mass-market Web hosting industry.
The report is the third in the 2007 T1R Mass-Market Quarterly Series, a report designed to provide analysis and identify trends in the mass-market hosting sector. T1Rs analysts found that transformation and M&A activity continue to be dominant themes in the mass-market hosting sector.
Some of the hosting companies covered include GoDaddy, The Planet, Hostopia, Hostway, PEER1, Rackspace and more.
“The mass-market Web hosting sector is a space that is fragmented, under pressure and in the middle of an important transformation period,” Philbert Shih, a senior analyst at T1R and lead author of the report, said in a press release issued by the company. “Change is being driven by the proliferation of broadband access, Web-enabled mobile devices, and users’ willingness to take more of their personal and business lives online. This has led to the growing importance of back-end applications such as messaging and collaboration tools, which are adding a layer of value for an industry that has been focused on outward-facing Web presence for most of its history.”
