NEW YORK (June 10, 2008) – Cirtex Corp announced today it will support earthquake rescue and recovery efforts in China through fundraising and in-kind donations from its two hosting brands, CirtexHosting (http://www.cirtexhosting.com) and HostV (http://www.hostv.com). The 8.0 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan province has killed nearly 70 thousand and left nearly 5 million homeless.
“The scale and scope of this tragedy are impossible to conceive,” said Cirtex Corp. president John Xie. “Both as a member of the business community, and more importantly, as humans, we have a moral imperative to do everything we can to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts in China. Nearly a month after the tragedy, the need for assistance keeps getting larger. Based in New York City, we know what it’s like to ask for help after a tragedy.”
Cirtex Corp. hopes to raise more than $10,000 in donations to Mercy Corps, an international relief organization serving as a leader in the disaster response effort. It has delivered 22 truckloads of critical supplies to displaced families in affected areas and continues to assess victims’ urgent needs.
CirtexHosting, the company’s shared hosting division, has donated Web hosting and development services to GracefulYouth, a nonprofit organization with more than 100 volunteers collaborating to lend financial and logistical support to relief organizations operating within China.
As part of its corporate responsibility pledge, the company will continue to evaluate additional opportunities to offer assistance to relief efforts in China and other parts of the world.
