July 24, 2008 (TopHosts News Brief) Toronto-based Web hosting provider, Cirrus Tech, announced that current and potential dedicated server clients will now be able to order new remote backup plans employing R1Soft’s Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software.
The Web host selected CDP software in order “to provide clients with a more value added service than a traditional backup solution”.
Basically R1Soft’s CDP software works by taking “periodical snapshots” of a customer’s hard disk. Each snapshot, of course, is stored as a separate restore point, which clients schedule according to need.
Each backup plan has a specific amount of backup space and a maximum amount of restore points. All restore points (backups) created are stored on Cirrus Tech’s backup servers running R1Soft’s CDP Server Application. In addition, clients can easily manage their backups through a simple web interface, and upgrade plans as needs change.
