October 22, 2008 (TopHosts News Brief) – HostDime, an Orlando-based Web hosting provider, has set up hosting services in Colombia. After acquiring GrupoDW, a South American Internet services firm, the company operates as a new, wholly owned subsidiary, HostDime Colombia (http://hostdime.com.co).
GrupoDW’s operational assets including some network and server hardware were all packaged in the deal. Importantly, clients and employees of GrupoDW become part of the HostDime operation as well.
HostDime will continue expansion into what it describes as “a large, untapped market space.” Colombia has 14 million Internet users; only 30 percent of the population is online according to March 2008 research reports.
HostDime CEO, Emmanuel Vivar discusses the expansion strategy: “Our international expansions continue to make HostDime a stronger, more agile and ultimately more profitable company, and we will work to build the scope and scale of these operations. Entering the Colombian market allows us to fulfill a variety of strategic goals, including the addition of skilled bilingual employees and a practical springboard for future growth in Latin America.”
The founder of GrupoDW, Edwin T. will continue to direct operations in Colombia.
HostDime’s 3,000 servers are housed in its two private data centers in Orlando, Florida. The company’s other Web hosting operations are situated in Guadalajara, Mexico (HostDime Mexico), Haifa, Isreal (HostDime Israel), and Joao Pessoa, Brazil (HostDime Brazil).
