SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Feb. 5, 2009) - GoDaddy.com is the Presenting Sponsor of the “Doorway of Hope” Dinner to benefit HomeBase Youth Services. HomeBase is an Arizona non-profit dedicated to reaching out to at-risk and homeless teens. The event takes place Friday, Feb. 6, at the Arizona Biltmore.
The mission of HomeBase Youth Services is teaching at-risk and homeless youth how to live healthy and independent lives through outreach, mobile medical services, transitional housing, employment and education opportunities, as well as mental health and substance abuse services.
“There are thousands of young people - “aged out” of foster care and far too young to be on their own - trying to survive on the streets of Arizona,” says Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “As a business and community leader, our company feels a responsibility to reach out and support organizations trying to do all they can to give these young people a decent chance at a decent life.”
Friday’s event will provide an opportunity for HomeBase to share life stories of young survivors, as well as honor supporters, staff and volunteers who work diligently on behalf of homeless youth. Nima Kelly, Go Daddy’s Vice President of Corporate Administration is set to speak at the event.
“I can attribute much of my success to what I learned in the Marine Corps, and after Vietnam, to the University of Baltimore, which I was able to attend thanks to the GI Bill,” adds Parsons. “A little guidance and support can sometimes put a life with no direction on a path of never-ending possibilities.”
In 2008, Go Daddy donated more than $1.7MM in contributions to support a wide variety of charitable and community organizations whose missions range from domestic violence, child abuse and teenage homelessness to searching for cures for Parkinson’s disease and breast cancer.
