Poundhost is one of the UK’s leading players in the dedicated Web hosting market.

Nov. 24-09-TopHosts.com News Brief: Namesco, a UK ISP and Web hosting specialist, announced it has acquired dedicated hosting provider, Poundhost.

Namesco, a subsidiary of the Italian Internet and mobile services company, Dada SPA, disclosed that on November 19th, 2009, it will “own 100% of the capital of the companies composing Poundhost, including Poundhost Internet Ltd, Server Arcade Ltd, VPS Ltd and Blueconnex Ltd.”

Founded in 2001, Poundhost currently owns 10,000 dedicated and virtual servers and has a large customer base consisting of 30 percent US-based clients. Namesco, is among the 50 largest Web hosting providers worldwide and the fourth largest domain registrar in the UK.

The Poundhost acquisition is in keeping with Dada SPA’s ongoing strategy to solidify its leadership in Europe and “to strengthen the position of the Group in the management of online identity and presence of innovative Web advertising solutions.”

Paolo Barberis, Chairman and founder of Dada said: “The further expansion of the customer base accelerates the development of Simply, the new Dada online advertising project, in the UK market in which internet advertising has already overtaken television.”
