(08-12-09) TopHosts News Brief: Dublin-based telecommunications firm, Smart Telecom, has cleared
the Court examination process and is eligible to become part of the Digiweb Group, which provides Web hosting and data center services.
The new telecommunications organization will combine to generate 40 million (58.8 million USD) with more than 150 employees altogether. A subscriber base of 46,500 business, residential, corporate and government clients for broadband, data and telephony will be combined with more than 48,000 Web hosting, domain and data centre customers.
Colm Piercy, CEO of Digiweb summarized the acquisition as follows: “The combination of the Digiweb and Smart businesses makes the enlarged Digiweb Group a truly national telecommunications company, with the network, people and managed services capability to provide real choice in the Irish telecoms market.
