TopHosts News (March 16, 2010)- Rackspace Hosting said it will be introducing a new service for the music industry: Rackspace Media Services. This solution will provide an open source, direct-to-consumer (D2C) web infrastructure for music recording labels to speed up content delivery online and respond quicker to fan demand while creating new revenue streams.
The Web hosting and cloud computing services provider cites that recording artists are stretched with extensive IT requirements for eCommerce, user generated content, social media and custom applications, which is not their core business focus.
Wes Laird, director of Rackspace Media Services said: “Music recording labels have traditionally focused their resources on non-differentiating IT tasks or have outsourced their D2C applications to third parties in an attempt to support hundreds of artists’ complex sites and infrastructures. Rackspace gives labels the freedom to focus on differentiating their businesses via application development and the support of business processes to meet the needs of both the artist and the fan.”
In addition to a dedicated team that delivers a scalable D2C website infrastructure backed by URL uptime service level agreements, Rackspace ensures that the industry’s best LAMP technology professionals will be on hand 24x7 to help with root-cause analysis and remediation and to keep websites online.
