TopHosts News [May 19, 2010] - Rackspace Hosting (NYSE: RAX), one of the dominant cloud and Web hosting providers, plans to introduce public cloud services to the UK by the end of the year.
Lanham Napier, CEO of Rackspace said: “Our public cloud business grew nearly 125 percent in 2009. The computing as a service revolution has continued at a rapid pace, with analysts like Gartner predicting that 20% of all organizations will no longer own IT assets by 2012. We believe the opportunity in front of us is massive and we have a range of services in development that will be attractive to customers and provide new choices to the market.”
Rackspace is reacting to growing demand from UK and European customers for cloud hosting and IT services now that it has secured leadership and success in markets such as the United States.
Continuing growth of its cloud and managed Web hosting businesses in the US prompted Rackspace to lease an additional 28,200 square feet of data center space in early May. This move increased the size of Rackspaces data center in Elk Grove Village, IL to 65,000 square feet of space.
