We all know that there are plenty of excellent Web hosting options available in the UK. However, it looks like The Royal Family went with a relatively safe choice, namely Google, to host www.officialroyalwedding2011.org.
Built by Accenture and employing creative input from the Reading Room, the official site of the Royal Wedding being held on April 29, 2011, is powered by Googles App Engine because of it’s capability to handle large global peaks in Web traffic.
The latest news, pictures and video feed of the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton will be made available, as will Twitter feeds, FaceBook updates and Flickr images.
The Daily Mirror reports that more than two million page views have been registered since the site’s March 2nd launch.
While the site’s FAQ section mentions that The Royal Family and the Middleton family will pay for the wedding, there is no mention on who’s picking up the tab for Web hosting. Maybe it’s a wedding gift from Larry Page and Sergey Brin?
