I read that Germany is facing a potential Christmas crisis: an acute shortage of qualified Santa Clauses. According to the Reuters story, the employment agencies are looking for a few good men that are “child-friendly, good organizers, reliable” with acting skills and no police record.
Then all of a sudden it hit me. Web hosting companies have some suitable candidates. They don't necessarily have to do it for the 60 euros an hour (75 bucks) but it's great for publicity don't you think? You donate a few hours here and there and you are smack dab in the middle of some good old marketing my friends. Okay, some of you non-marketing types are going to say they should just pitch in out of the goodness of their hearts and for the joy of the season. That's fine too. The Web hosting and regular media will cover it regardless.
So why not leave the computer for a couple of hours? Get out of that stuffy data center. Make some children happy. What Web host in the right mind doesn't want to be known as 'the guy' who saved Christmas?
Recruitment sessions are going on right now - brush up on your big smiles and jolly disposition. Just think of the children as future Web hosting clients. I think I might have gone too far with that.
