Yesterday, as we watched the NHL All-Stars showcase their skills for hockey fans, a commercial for A Million Acts of Green aired. The program, developed by CBC.ca and Cisco Systems, seeks to amass and track a million acts that “make our lives, our communities, and our environment greener.”
I think it’s a great idea and I registered at the site quickly and easily and found that at 11:46 AM today there were already 896,132 acts registered. The acts of green that we do everyday - drinking tap water instead of bottled water, car pooling, using recycled paper - obviously has an impact on the environment. Why not celebrate the fact that you are doing some good?
The Web hosting industry thankfully has embraced “Green” IT and they make it known whenever they do some good; we as individuals should be able to see that our contributions are meaningful as well.
