It has to be a great feeling inside to anticipate a demand, formulate a plan to meet it, achieve it and continue to work on exceeding your original expectations. That rings true for successful Web hosting companies around the world in general and speaks to the true entrepreneurial spirit.
Five years ago Thomas Strohe, CEO of intergenia AG, a popular German Web host, saw the need for a good Web hosting conference in Europe. Heck, he might have even been thinking an 'adequate' conference would suffice. And why not hold it a meeting center close to work and home and throw in an exotic Chinese theme park with roller coasters, dragons and temples? It's worked pretty well so far and WebhostingDay has become the most important Web hosting event in Europe.
Expectations for this year are better than last. Attendance is expected at more than 1,200 and the number of exhibitors has grown at least 25 percent from last year. Apparently the top executives in the hosting industry really embrace the philosophy held from day one: an event from the industry for the industry. The agenda will include: Cloud Computing, Virtualization, Green IT, Energy Efficiency in Data Centers, Software-Plus-Services and workshops throughout the March 18-20 period plus remarkable networking opportunities, okay, parties.
High 5 to Thomas, Christoph, Marie Janine, Kirsten, Jochen, Dr. Jens Boecker and the entire WebHostingDay 2009 crew.

Web hosts appear to be ahead of the marketing curve
