They certainly do things big in Texas don’t they? Last week, the legislative body in the Lone Star State approved of a rider to the state budget that would prevent governmental agencies from using the Microsoft Vista operating system without approval from a legislative board. That means that affiliated agencies need written permission to buy Vista licenses or PCs with Vista installed.
This was proposed by Sen. Juan Hinojosa because there are “many reports of problems with Vista.” The good senator also serves as vice chairman of the Senate’s Finance Committee. One can only speculate that he had extensive research help to arrive at that conclusion. Alternatively, he had a huge string of computer problems and just needed to take care of business. Head ‘em off at the pass, so to speak.
How does Microsoft even respond to something like this? Send him a copy of Essential Microsoft Vista or Windows Vista for Dummies? Well, they took the expected route and said the company was surprised by the action of being singled out and it basically amounts to unequal treatment. They know Windows 7 is just around the corner and some Texas politicians don’t completely grasp the important issues of the day. But somehow I just know that “Dummies” book will end up on his desk.
All I can say is if you host this guy’s websites, please don’t slip up.
Have a wonderful Easter break everyone.
