Hazem Megerisi, founder of UK web hosting provider ByteHouse, is enjoying the benefits of increased customer awareness and adoption of Virtual Private Server solutions.
TH: You’ve described ByteHouse as a boutique Web host – what do mean by that?
HM: Some may think of us as a specialty hosting company just as you might think of a hotel or clothing shop. Basically, ByteHouse features a high level of service. There aren’t different levels of customer service as such, you can pick up the phone and someone will be able to help you right away.
TH: Besides customer care, what are the other distinguishing features your clients are impressed with?
HM: Our Tier1 data center is highly secure. The connectivity and redundancy provided are first rate and customers need not worry their sites will go down with our cutting edge technology and security, which we’ve not skimped on.
TH: What products or services have you noticed increased demand in at ByteHouse?
HM: The enquiries for virtualization or VPS are higher this year than last. There’s been a lot of interest in Cloud hosting as that is the hot item in the industry right now. Customers are looking at scalability, cost benefit and of course disaster recovery capability.
Our virtualization platform is powerful and running heavy application programs for incremental costs of storage are appealing. Customers seem to be moving away from shared hosting as they want more control of their hosting environment.
TH: The last time we spoke, Sharepoint services were strong.
HM: Yes, Sharepoint, Microsoft Exchange and our Advanced solutions including virtual and dedicated hosting are services in demand for all the benefits we’ve mentioned.
TH: So the recession that’s gripped the market hasn’t had a significant impact on the business?
HM: Well, of course, customers are looking at costs more carefully; if you don’t need the service you simply won’t get it because people are scaling down. However, we’ve seen that clients are migrating quicker to VPS solutions because the power and memory are almost similar to dedicated hosting and it’s proving to be a wise upfront investment.
TH: What are the future plans or objectives of ByteHouse?
HM: In the short term we’ll be expanding our applications in the software-on-demand realm. Long-term, there are Virtual office solutions that we’d like to introduce. Virtualization and Cloud hosting are here to stay. Granted, people have argued that it’s been around for years whether you call it Grid Computing or something else. The important thing is that it’s becoming more viable with each iteration and more valuable as a result. Also, we’re focusing on expanding our customer base. And we’ll do that without compromising quality and infrastructure.
