You can spend a whole lot of money advertising on the Internet without a good ROI so choose your locations wisely. For example, Comparewebhosts.com advertising was not a good investment for us but hostsearch.com has been for years. Banner advertising and general directory advertising does not in my opinion have a good ROI for most companies. They are good for branding but many studies have shown that people tend to ignore banners. We have had good success with search engine optimization but that takes a whole lot of learning and hard work.
