Default Re: 4 Tips to Find the Web Host That's Right for You

My biggest tip would be to avoid any of the hosts that give you shared space on a server and go for someone who offers virtual private servers - like eapps.com

Whatever else is going on with service/price etc, one of the mainstays of your online activity is your email. And if you are on a shared server (which is what MOST of the cheap hosts offer), then it only takes ONE other person on your server to get themselves blacklisted, and ALL of the people on that server get blacklisted too. Suddenly you find that your emails don't get through and there is next to NOTHING you can do about it, apart from change hosts.

On a VPS (Eapps is just $10 a month) this can never happen to you - unless of course you are blacklisted yourself.

I'm no high-end pro, just someone who over 4-5 years has been building sites for a small number of people. I started with peoplehost - and the service was terrible. Then onto hostgator, which was cheap..and ok...but since I moved to eapps 18 months ago I have just been delighted. Their service is outstanding, the functionality they offer is brilliant - I am now hosting forums and chats as well as all the usual basic stuff. And at 10 bucks a month it's just amazing.

So, I don't know who else offers VPS, and as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter, eapps are fabulos. Just don't start on a shared service and find yourself having to change. In the world of internet, change is NOT as good as a rest!

PS I have nothing to do with eapps, I'm just a happy customer.
