Good place to advertise?

OK, since this is a new forum and no one has asked it yet. I'll start.

Where is a good place to advertise my hosting company?

Hi Superman - glad to see you join - welcome to the forum

To advertise you have to look at a lot of possibilities and options. While this is not exhaustive by any means, I'd suggest a few major options.

- search engines and PPC advertising (google ad words, overture, Business.com, findwhat.com, kanoodle, etc...)
- you can also try a few different hosting directories, some are more expensive and yield more if you can afford the higher price point. You can always try 4 or 5 cheaper alternatives ($250 to $500/month) and see what kind of ROI you get
- you can also consider an affiliate program - by going through cj.com, you can post your banners (have 20dollarbanners.com make you some creatives if you need them) there and register through them so that you pay $50 for each customer you acquire.
- local yellow pages, business directories (in toronto there is something called www.redto.com or toronto.com and you could always list cheaply in local versions of that i'm sure.

There are a few that I hear are good for advertisers from a ROI standpoint, lets add to the list everyone

3. Signature marketing on forums ( when you help a person you develop a sort of relationship )

Anyway Mr Admin congrats on building a forum which has less rules ( or will have ) but anyway I must say you have a vision here. I most certainly will help you will the threads related to Marketing ( my real - life profession ).

You can spend a whole lot of money advertising on the Internet without a good ROI so choose your locations wisely. For example, Comparewebhosts.com advertising was not a good investment for us but hostsearch.com has been for years. Banner advertising and general directory advertising does not in my opinion have a good ROI for most companies. They are good for branding but many studies have shown that people tend to ignore banners. We have had good success with search engine optimization but that takes a whole lot of learning and hard work.

Find web-hosting forums as many as possible. They will have ad section you can post your offer over there. Or may have some opportunities to talk about your company. Any way the most important thing is read rules before you post or else you will get banned.

You can advertise in many places on the net. Here are some you may want to try:
1. forums like this
2. ezines---place articles with links to your site in these electronic magazines.
3. hosting directories
4. submit your site to all the major search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.
