What is the BEST and WORST Dedicated hosting you have had?

I can't really comment on personal experiences but i'd have to think that the worst would be when cihosts' servers all went down on new years eve '99. That couldn't have been a happy time for hundreds of customers lol

Best: IBM, but you get what you pay for, the contract was $5K/month (cdn $). consistently 100% uptime though (they were riding on Bell's backbone at the time, not sure what they're up to now).

Worst: Hosting it at my office through a Rogers "business" connection! $130/month. Although that was in 1998, and network uptime seems to be better overall nowadays, throughout all ISPs. Service from ISPs has grown alot, they're better at making the internet behave.

WORST: www.cihost.com. They stank. Network was down all of the time, for support I was always on hold at least 45 minutes. Just terrible.

BETTER: www.rackspace.com. Great service, great performance. Just too expensive.

BEST: www.netriplex.com. I can't remember how I found these dudes, but the service and performance is just as good as rackspace, if not better, but their prices are normal. I have a few servers with them, even one at $99/month that screams.

BEST and WORST managed dedicated hosting I ever had:

Worst: cihost. Not 100% uptime as they indicated. support was not there to assist me properly from initial server setup to the end of the contract. (3 month)

Best: rackspace. I went the best of the breed. I got great service with the top dollar I paid. (1 year). They are the best.

Better: dedicatedcentral. Since I couldn't afford rackspace anymore. I went with dedicatedcentral. so far very good support, I really like the CommandCentral. (4 month+)

I too am looking for a recommendation on a dedicated hosting company that can grow with our online magazine. Currently, we're doing more than a million page views a month and outgrowing current hosting company. Suggestions on best and worst are welcomed

I can't say. I'm still looking. If anyone know a top-rated dedicated hosting company in Los Angeles area, let me know.

Worse
Aplus.Net Nonexistent customer service and support. Can't get anyone to call back. No one ever call you back. Too over a week to get my site up and the problem wasn't my fault to start with. Excessive charging of fees that should not be charged. Will never refund. If you want refund, don't plan on talking to anyone at the company.
