Default Search engine traffic versus link traffic.

I've always read (and it makes sense to believe) that search engine traffic is the best kind of traffic because it's very targetted--people are actively looking for what your site contains (usually).

But one of my sites in particular gets a lot of traffic from a link that's on another site with a similar theme. Would that traffic be just as good as the search engine traffic? What do you think?

gee let me think about that....YES !
this link will help your rankings, but it's obviously popular on that site for a reason. it's probably better than SE traffic (not a bunch of competitors clicking it on).

Yeah, what I'm reading on various boards is that links are often best because 1) they help you search engine rankings anyway and 2) they are like a recommendation from another website, so people tend to associate more trust with the site that is linked to.

You are familiar on the engine traffic. Please provide some advice about which host is good and reliable, and how to set up searchable web page (for example, given key words like distillation, chemical engineering, etc, then web browser can search and find my web page through Yahoo, Google, etc. I am a new customer and try to find a reliable web page host, and set up my company web pages.

I use AQHost (www.aqhost.com), and their service has been wonderful. PHP/MySQL/Cron jobs, great performance--$7 a month!

One of the programs that I use is Linkmachine.
This has been recommended by a couple of Google Search Engine experts.

It FULLY automates your backlinks. It's been great to me.
over and above I use my own piece of software www.urlsubmitters.com
It links my site to over 1000 category directories and does monthly search engine submissions automatically.

Backlinks, and search engine submissions that is the key.

Good luck with your efforts. It takes time and patience. I spend over 16 hours each day trying to get www.rebelnetworks.com up in the rankings...it's not easy

well targeted traffic from SE always works fine. However I suggest you to get presented in website that are leading resources in your service area.

I have to agree with you... if you have a lot of link and you will most probably get higher PR which will give you more search engine traffic

As such both are good methods to get traffic but the thing is that it should be quality traffic, means what is the use of getting traffic if it's not useful to your services or your products. So always look for the methods from you gets quality traffic.

I think it depends on the link, and how the link is presented. If you have a hard sales page, having your links come in with a "presell" mood (they have already been presold on your product) would be good.

Having links from a similar theme would mean your visitors are likely alreayd targeted, and at least looking for information.

Thanks
