SEO Tips to Optimize Your Site

Go to google.com, search on the target keyword your website has planned to work on.
Then check the top ranking website, learn from it, and do better.

How to do better? Here’s some basic practices…

1. place keyword in < h1> tag in very top of the page (maybe hidden cell)

2. place keyword phases as the first word in < title> only, and contain no more than 3 keywords

3. On your webpage, set your first graphic with ALT set to your target keyword

4. build a text based sitemap, add ALT if it is an image

5. OPML / RSS site map

6. bold or underline keyword (1 or 2 times only)

7. The key word/phrase should be used again very near the end of the page.

8. try to register a good domain name with keyword (I guess keyword in subdirectory is ok)

9. navigation menu on the right, since googlebot looks from top and left

Those are some great on-site SEO tips, I know they work wonders in MSN, but I think Google gives more importance to backlinks (off-site SEO) when ranking sites for a keyword.

Backlinks pointing to your site. The anchor text and the title attribute used in those links. How related the site that links to you to the content of your page is. How important the site that links to you is in an specific niche (is it an authority site?).

Spot on mate, Google loves off page SEO while yahoo loves On page SEO

I think the three important facotrs to get good page rank is,
1.Number of Links Placed in the same content related site.
2.Increase back links via Forums,Blog,Guest books,Directories,Article submission directory etc..
3.quality unique content
