PR# whats all this about?

hi ,

I see mention throught these forums and elsewhere of PR this and PR that web sites. I assume there is a way to check what PR rating your site is, but what do I need to do?

What does PR relate too?

Hi,
Seriously, PageRank is one measurement Google makes of links pointing to a page. It's not the only way they evaluate links, and it's far from the most important element in their ranking algorithms. The term is a Google trademark. Too much is made of it because they made the marketing decision to include a score derived from it on their toolbar, which has many people convinced it must be very important.

One way to check is to install the google toolbar on your browser then visit your website or any other website.

The google toolbar displays the PR of every web page you visit. Although PR is not the most important factor to consider when optimising your website for search engines; it should not be ignored.

PR is like a little out of 10 grading scale that never really worked it was a brain child... they thought they could rank every page bla bla and give it a score out of 10 but it keeps breaking... new pages start at 4 instead of 1 they are constantly working on it.

If you are using firefox, you can get the extension plugin. The PR will just show up when you visit a new site.
