Most of our clients (70%) are retailers. The question of overselling came up a couple of years ago when the old bandwith issues reared it's ugly head in my direction. Since then, we've managed to run a cap. Sure, they aren't really using all that they are alotted, but then again, Christmas time usually causes a run up on the width, so we kind of be sure to not push the accounts too heavy even though it's real tempting to do from time to time.

Something that everyone needs to remember is that overselling happens just about everywhere. Doctors overbook appointments, Airlines overbook flights...do you get the picture? Overselling is a common practice in the marketplace. Not just in our industry.

funny that you mention that i was once the victim of a overbooked flight and it was the worst experience that i have ever had... they sold more tickets then they had seats and everyone turned up..... biiiiiiiig trouble

But the number of times that happens in comparison to the number of flights that go every day is small. It is worth the risk as long as you do something to correct the situation. It is a fact of the business world so people may as well get used to it and quit griping about it in just one industry. If they are going to grip they need to attack it in ALL of the industries where it is done. That will just give them something new to gripe about then...the higher prices created.
