Meirhosting vs sitehq or alternative.?

Looking at moving my site from sitehq as of issues relating to need more space, fantastico scripts if I upgrade site, and am now I am getting constant SQL - too many connection errors. I am also told that my site is also on a US server so now doubt will be shared.
Anyway - 1 options they have offered, is that I can move it to a UK server. I wont get any fantastico scripts. I am not sure if this will break anything in joomal so its a concern. They have always offered good service so its a shame to move.

I though been looking at meirhosting as they offer a similar cost to sitehq and do Fantastico - added bonus. I will then keep both webhosts live - as having both is not much more than upgrading with sitehq and then gives me a dedicated test server.

Anyway - if I choose to move with sitehq , what difference can I see is I choose a UK server vs US - speed, quickness on issue fixes????

Meir vs sitehq. Opinions?

Any alternative UK shared hosting I should be looking at - I would like an established company.
