Well, I think you are facing this problem as the hosting plan and domain wasn't registered with a company which has been in this industry since a long time (I haven't heard of them before so I think they are quite new).

Yes, there are some hosts which offer free domain name with the hosting deal and you can keep domain with you by paying for the domain registration only
