Thumbs up Welcome to the Technical Hosting Forum!

Hi everyone,

This forum was created to get some technical talk rolling around here - hosting is a very technical part of the computing world, and we should have a place to discuss it here.

Almost anything goes in this forum but the main focus will be operating systems, hosting platforms, and all that is included with that. It's a pretty large scope but as computer professionals (most of us ) we should be able to contribute alot. I have always thought that people working in the hosting business are the jack of all trades type, so please prove me right!

As for myself my background is in Unix (mainly FreeBSD) but I have worked with Solaris, Linux, HP and Windows systems on small and very large scales. I have been managing the systems at VerticalScope (TopHosts parent company) for the last couple years and have also worked on the operations team for Canada's largest news website. I have a server that runs FreeBSD/Plesk, my first foray into the hosting world, which is colocated at Peer1 Networks in Toronto. It's an older Compaq DL320 that I bought off eBay.

Hopefully we can make this part of the forum really useful for the existing users and in turn attract some more at the same time.

cheers,

jmack,
I'd like to have a Windows site hosted which would allow me to create ASP pages that access my SQL Server Extended Stored Procedures (DLLs) stored on the host that then access my database and tables also stored on the host. Do you know if this is possible using tophost?

jrichburg,

I am sure that is possible using any Windows hosting company or if you have your own Windows server environment.

To answer your question, is it possible using tophost, of which I'll assume you are referring to the website, no. You can however use Tophosts to find a Windows 2000/2003 web hosting provider in the following location:

http://www.tophosts.com/showcases/nt/

Hopefully that helps.

regards,
jmack
