Default Seanic.net is reliable for under $5/month

I'm a web developer and use Hostway for my 'big' clients and Seanic.net for smaller, non-profits and low volume clients. I have about 15 sites with Seanic to date and all run smoothly with excellent service. One uses PayPal to sell items, rest are basically 'brochure ware' sites with FormMail in CGI-bin.. nothing fancy.

Check out GoDaddy.com, the hosting company I moved to after being burned by Aplus.net. They're economy webhosting starts at $3.95 monthly with NO set up fees and they have EXCELLENT (though not toll free) customer service.

I'd ask what is your site for? If its for a personal site to show some family photos or just a basic information page for a hobby/sport thing then sure, there are a lot of hosts that can do $5/month.

If this is for a business and it is important to you that your site is up online all of the time then I would say that there is no host in the world that I would go with.

PAY A LITTLE BIT MORE AND GET GOOD SERVICE, SUPPORT, ETC...

You probably pay $10 a day to park your car and $5 a day for your Starbucks Latte - isn't your website a little more important than your latte?

Exclamation Re: Any good budget hosts under $5?

Um, don't hate, appreciate and congratulate! I don't need a big, fancy site to do what I do. (Though I bartered services with a professional web site designer to build the site I designed so its graphical interface is high quality, not a cheap template.) So, GoDaddy does just fine since all I needed to do was upload my already created web site to their server.

I wish I could get my daily venti soy white chocolate mocha no whip latte from Starbucks for what I pay per month for my website! The person who posted asked for BUDGET web hosts--you know, those who aren't chargin' folk up for services they don't need. I responded that GoDaddy provides that service. No, for $3.95 (or $8.95 which is what I pay), I don't get all the bells and whistles of an Amazon.com. But I don't NEED all that and don't want to be charged for what I won't use. I'm sure GoDaddy has web hosting plans for those who need all that but they also have them for those who DON'T and guess what, they're REASONABLE to work with! They don't have JERKS for customer service reps like my two--correction THREE--previous web hosting companies, who weren't even as cheap! One was charging me nearly $50.00 a month and couldn't help me upload the files to their server! Even my web designer, who builds sites for major companies, couldn't figure out their instructions!

With GoDaddy, I ALSO get amazing discount deals on additional web hosting accounts as well as NO setup fees and NO long term contracts!

If you learn how to market properly, you can find people you can overcharge for your services without hatin' on those of us who choose NOT to partake of overpriced services when all we need is low cost web hosting. Besides, it's not our job to make anyone else rich.

My clients, who are national business editors, love my site. If it works for them, it works for me. Thanks for giving me a chance to rave about GoDaddy.com!

If you are serious about your online business, I would consider the feature set, reputation and support in addition to only the lowest price.

It really is true that you get what you pay for.

Three good cheap hosting companies are:

www.ipowerweb.com
www.hostsave.com
www.godaddy.com

Good luck with your web site!

I would not recommend Ipowerweb nor HostSave. At one time these companies were good however now that they have become fairly large, their support has deteriorated. I have never used GoDaddy as a host however, their core competency is domain registration. I would prefer to go with a host that has a core focus on web hosting. Also, don't always base your decision on the cost of hosting. I would recommend that you figure out your site requirements, figure out a monthly max you are willing to spend and then do you due diligence. Just my suggestions.
