Exclamation Google Enters the Web Hosting Fray!

Don't know if you saw it - but it's official:

Google Web Hosting has arrived.

Here's a brief synopsis:

Several online sources including Google Engineer, Matt Cutts' Blog have confirmed that the new web hosting product is currently live and available at: http://pages.google.com. The product is named Google Page Creator, and according to Google as described on the product page:

''Create your own web pages, quickly and easily.

Google Page Creator is a free online tool that makes it easy for anyone to create and publish useful, attractive web pages in just minutes.''

What, if anything, do you think this will mean for the web hosting industry?

wow - that is very interesting.

This will have a big impact on the hosting industry. The big thing about this is that they wont have any troubles in making the sales happen

Good on them ;-)

I don't know if it will change things too much. Site builders have been around for quite a while. I haven't had a chance to see Google's effort, but site builders often limit the design of by being template bound.

I think it will be a lot like GMail. There was a lot of excitement when it was released, but it didn't really seem to actually kill off any of the other big email providers. It did have a very positive impact on the free webmail providers by forcing them to provide a far better service than they had previously (especially when it came to mailbox space). Hopefully Google pages might do the same.

Can't say I'm surprised, Google are getting their fingers into everything these days but don't think it will make much difference to be honest.

There are loads of sitebuilders out there that will do the same job and while they are good for newbies to web design, after a while you'll want to be designing your own stuff as it allows far more flexibility.

Only time will tell I suppose.....

This should be interesting, especially since it appears that Yahoo and Microsoft will be merging soon - soley to take on Google:
