Fasthosts let down

I joined with Fasthosts many years ago, and initially was very pleased with their performance. Now its a different story however, as responses to email support take not hours or days, but apparently go unheeded entirely. A recent security problem on their servers made them spontaneously and without warning change everyone's passwords cutting them off from ftp access, or control panel access. As I was working on 4 separate websites at the time this has proved to be most disruptive. And to date they have mnot responded to my emails. I have called and waited on hold for over an hour to progress no more than 5 places in queues that have variously said I've been in position 15, 28 or 41. Certainly if I still have no response by next week I shall contacting the ombudsman and my lawyer.

A year ago I had a few quibbles about the way they handled a number of support issues and ported a number of my sites over to Mediatemple in the States (with whom I've not had a single issue). Laziness prevented me from porting the rest, something I deeply regret now.

What I can't understand is how it keeps being so highly rated by review sites. I know of dozens of people who've had the same problems, and worse. One friend lost his entire website without any apology or compensation or even explanation. It cost him several weeks of business. I should have paid attention then.

Fasthosts are a complete and utter disgrace.

The phone lines are jammed 24/7 for their own incompetence and they use an 0870 premium rate support line which they get funds for.

If Fasthosts survive this I will eat my hat (not that I have a hat).

Go netpivotal, for what I can see they are pound for pound the best hoster.

I'm a Fasthosts Reseller but I can't really can't take it any more. I'm looking for an alternative web host.

I also am amazed on how they rank so highly... number 10 in tophosts own list...

They talk a good talk, they look professional, pricing is ok but technical support are utterly terrible in fact worse than that their totally incompetant.

I expect that any of their more valued employees have long since jumped ship.

They still have not recovered from the hack and password change fiasco, waiting times are long and I'm providing technical support to technical support...

surely that's not right is it!

They also dispensed with the Reseller Support Forums with no timescale as to when an alternative would be launched.

We had problems with godaddy hosting.. there services is not as good as hostmonster. According to the search engine credibility the hosting server should be chosen according to the targeted audience. I prefer hostmonster for UK, US based audience.

For NZ, Openhost and MediaTemple for Australia and NZ.
