Third party or customised Control Panels?

Hello everyone,

We know about various CP’s in the market like plesk, helm, cPanel etc.

Just wondering what is your opinion, a third party or a customized control panel designed by the hosting company itself?

Always my favourite - H-Sphere. I prefer H-Sphere due to its extensive features and great usability. It does a great work and its a complete system out there.

If you are not able to solve a customer problem then you are as good as gone.

On the other hand a hosting company that makes its own CP shows that they have ****ysed the market and have accordingly made a CP that will suit the customers the best and will be able to answer any CP related questions a customer asks as they have designed the CP themselves.

Some things to consider:

If you are focusing on a niche, it would demonstrate that your company is knowledgeable in the technology if you build your own control panel system using that technology. For us, we specialize in ASP.NET hosting so we built our own control panel in ASP.NET.

If you use a third party control panel, then you will need to rely on a third party for product development.

On the flip side, say you are a specialist in cold fusion but your control panel is in PHP. That wouldn't look good for a cold fusion developer.

I ususally prefer cPanel. It seems to be the easiest and the best supported and user friendly.
