Exclamation Help with illegal registrar lock

I have registered 11 domain names with Aplus.net and because of a dispute about services for one of them but
unrelated to my registrations, for which I've paid in full, they have placed a registrar lock on all 11 domain names. ICANN policy prohibits locking domain names and preventing their transfer to a new registrar for disputes unrelated to registration fees and I've pointed that out to both Aplus.net and ICANN and neither has responded. Arbitration and mediation are only available to large, multinational organizations (and are otherwise cost prohibitive anyway). So, what do individuals like me do when WE have a domain name dispute? Where do I turn for help with enforcement of ICANN policies that prohibit such abuses of perceived power like that of Aplus.net? I hope that when TopHosts.com next reviews this webhost, they warn readers that Aplus.net will do this if you do something they don't like. Please let me know what I can do to get this illegal registrar lock removed from my domain names so I can use them since I paid for their registration in full. Thanks.

I work for Aplus.net. I can tell you right now that if you have done anything illegal or if you are in a collections status pending investigation for further action the names will remained in a lock until the matter has been settled and said action has been initiated.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Feel free to contact me directly and I will see what I can do to help you in the transition from us to another company. I will be glad to issue you a public apology as well with an explanation of how the events occured.

However, If I find that you are doing something akin to what I have described above I will be posting the information publicly on this messageboard as well.

I look forward to your response,

Adam

Exclamation Re: Help with illegal registrar lock

Adam,

Thanks for your response but who are you and why should I trust you anymore than any other Aplus.net rep? How do I know you won't take whatever information you can from me and post a dishonest and negative response here in order to defame and discredit me?

My experience with Aplus.net has been HORRENDOUS and I resent the implication that I may have done something illegal or am in collections! In fact, Aplus.net owes ME money and charging back an illegal charge against my credit card isn't illegal and probably didn't cost Aplus.net much more than the a sting to their pride the CS associates who were arrogant enough to believe I wouldn't do it experienced when I did as I promised I would!

I think before you have me contact you, you should know I have an EXTENSIVE email transcript of this ENTIRE debacle which can just as easily be posted here if you attempt to do what your colleagues have already done--disrespect and disregard my protests against what is a clear violation of ICANN policies. I'm sorry if you're the first sincere Aplus.net employee I've met and you really want to help me but a lot of Aplus.net employees have made similar promises only to later disrespect me when they found out I had the audacity to reverse charges on my credit card before they decided if I deserved a refund of charges they should NEVER have made!

So, why should I believe YOU'LL be different from everyone else, including your billing manager?

Talking Re: Help with illegal registrar lock

It hasn't--yet. But I have a plan that will change this despite the company's new marketing ploy--get lots of people to say how wonderful they are so they can lure new registrants into their registrar-lock forever snare.

They may be laughing at me now...but what's that bible verse about pride?
