Hostway is pretty big and I'm sure a stable hosting provider. However the downtime is not inevitable. I hope they are doing to fix the issue very soon, if they have one.
Just a warning to any prospective Hostway customers. We have been hosting and our email and servers with a Hostway company called Dedicated Central. There has been an email outage for the last 24 hours which has been handled very poorly. Frankly, we had better uptime when we were a scrappy start up with a very part time sys admin and servers that our poor sys admin had to hold together with chewing gum. My summation is that either management has cut capital spending in anticpation of trying to sell the company or is not investing in IT folks. Either way, it'll implode some day. Even free email has better reliability.
