Nebie Question

Hello all!

I am the founder of a Non-Profit organization, America Against BSL.

I currently have a free Tripod wite, but want my own domain and everything else.

What I want is to have current members (75) be able to login and access files and pages that guests cant. I have always used WYSIWYG and dont plan on changing that. I dont like the Yahoo Site Builder, cause it is way to slow, and I can only work on my website at home.

Is there a different host, besides tripod that I can work on my website in different locations? I guess it would be web interfaced, im not sure.

Is it easy to create a site that has member only sections, or log in/log out options? Please help!

I wont have anything to buy, just a lot of resources and educational information.

If you used a CMS (or Content Management System) you could accomplish this. It would allow you to work on your website wherever you are, and many have a built-in downloads section, that can be set to only allow registered members access.

Some CMS: Drupal, Geeklog, Mambo Open Source, PHP-Nuke, phpWCMS, phpWebSite, Post-Nuke, Siteframe, Typo3, Xoops

All of the above are easily installed from within Fantastico, available with most cPanel hosts.
