Default What type of web hosting do I need?

This is general overview for people confused about what type of web hosting to purchase.
  • Shared Hosting - This is geared toward personal websites, small businesses, or any website just starting out.
  • VPS (Virtual Private Server) - This is for the the website that is on their way up, which means you usually have spikes of traffic, but the server demand is not consistent or extreme enough for a dedicated server. These packages also give one more control over your web hosting.
  • Basic or Low End Dedicated Server - If you have recently established a web presence that demands consistent resources, this is probably the best place for you. These servers work very well for most basic web services. Do not purchase these if you have a large amount of back end processing.
  • Intermediate or Mid-Grade Dedicated Server - These servers can handle more back end processing, and they can handle a heavier load than the starter dedicated servers. These servers can run most medium to high demand websites.
  • Enterprise Dedicated Servers - These servers can handle anything that doesn't require a server farm. This is what you need before you have to establish your own data center to keep up with the demands of your website. They are tough, and should handle just about any job.
  • Collocation - If you live near colocation services and you own your own server, this is a great way to get lightning fast internet speeds and have a nice cool place to store your server at hopefully a reasonable price. Your mileage may vary.
  • Cloud Hosting - Buy what you need when you need it. Start out small and grow based on need. This is relatively new, and it can be hard to find truly cloud based hosting versus traditional VPS.

There is obviously some gray area between the different types of services, but this should give most people a general idea. For example, you can find some VPS 's that are as tough as some dedicated servers. Also, you should always consider the important specs that are important to your website or project, e.g. bandwidth, hd space, memory, etc.

Looks like a very basic guide of course. I think VPS's are very trendy right now with dedicated servers losing a lot of market share due to the introduction of cloud hosting into what you would call the "mainstream".

It is really an end of an era but I see VPS starting a new era as a VPS can be as fast and strong as a dedicated server but at a fraction of the price. My $20 VPS now is faster with more space than a $80 dedicated server one of my employees has.

I here share my points about web hosting company choosing Tips ...
Now a day, there are many web hosting companies for choice. When you are choosing a web hosting company, there are several things you should keep in mind.A good web hosting company will ensure that they have sufficient resources available to provide its users with stability and reliability. Less reputable web hosting companies will host as many as one thousand websites on a single server, without regard for the additional risk of equipment failure that this causes, as well as the reduced traffic capacity for the sites. A good web hosting company will avoid this issue by hosting two hundred to two hundred and fifty websites per server, and not overloading the bandwidth and storage space.Any good web hosting company will be sure to provide a lot of technical help to their customers. Selecting a good web hosting company is more than just comparison shopping for the lowest monthly rate. The level of service provided by the company will have a huge impact on your satisfaction with your choice. You can get the website Hosting plans at here www.tucktail.com i have considered that points and choose the provider as Tucktail.com

I use StratoGen at the time and love them! I used to have three dedicated servers, but the cloud is certainly the way forward and I am a total convert now. So much easier to administer and downtime is a thing of the past.
