Hi, just finished web design course and now want to build a 'family' website so I don't forget everything I have learnt. Didn't really cover anything about choosing hosts, domain names etc. though. Help! I want to buy my domain name outright and I will be using dreamweaver to upload site (don't know if this makes any difference), I will have a page for each member of my family, will post photos and a blog etc. Any advice massively appreciated Rach

Look over some of the basic things to look in for host,

Service - Fast in their service
Support 24 x 7 - Intelligent in providing support
Reliability - Reliable in providing service without any interruptions, Good in giving you up with ideal plans, Technologically updated in upgrading your services
Security - Expert in providing security from hackers, viruses etc

Make sure your host meet all the above qualities. Domain Name could be got from the one with whom you're going to host. Its better to get reviews about a host in the web host forums which will help you a lot to know about your Host. These forums would help FreeWebSpace and WebHostingTalk.
