what is a better control panel?

The problem with using your own panel is that most users will not be familiar with it. Cpanel is universal and easy to use. We get a lot of refugees from bad hosting companies who were using cpanel before. Wouldn't want to make the situation worse by making them learn a new way of doing things.

cPanel is not for Windows. In my opinin good panel for windows is H-Sphere.

Honestly, most web hosting companies use panels other than cPanel because it costs less. But I think you get what you pay for

Well did you try PLESK, i think its better then H-Sphere and working fine for Windows and Linux.

cPanel isn't actually the most expensive... although its true that there are cheaper panels, I disagree with your implication that cPanel = most expensive and therefore best etc.

One of the many factors for a host to consider is obviously the license cost of the control panel software.

However, at least equally important are factors like

• User Interface
• Security
• Stability
• Feature-set

I consider those to be the main factors, but additional ones could include consideration to the familiarity of the panel in your target market, future direction of the control panel (i.e. do the developers listen to your/others feedback and incorporate it into their future releases) - this could be a big one depending on whether you want to lead or be led...

I guess these days you also need to consider integration with other products - billing systems, VPS platforms, automation software etc.

Hsphere alone can manage widows and linux hosting together

Cpanel, plesk and DA are good for linux hosting..
