Twitter adds search advertisement options
Twitter executives have unveiled the searching advertisement programs, which will put the variant brands for messaging the users in Twitter streams. Twitter unveiled a program on this Tuesday for a simple service, called �Promoted Tweets�, which makes a new sense to the non traditional approach for advertisements.
The users will begin to see Tweets promoted by the partner advertisers called out at the top of some search results page of Twitter.com. There is a belief that the promoted tweets need to be useful for the clients. There will be an attempt for measure that the Tweets are resonating well with the users and stoppage of showing Promoting Tweets, which does not resonate.
The initial advertiser in program includes many major companies, which have been using Twitter�s search for promotion of their brands. The promoted tweets were organically built for promotion and it is becoming official with the eventual building of fan created replies and re-tweets. Primarily, the ads are going to show up if the users make any search for the keywords purchased by the advertisers. They will show up in the users� streams for Twitter for both on the company�s homepage and third party client applications. There will be no more ads displayed at a time.
The promoted tweets will be labeled as �Promoted� when the advertiser is paying, but they will primarily exist as regular tweets. COO of Twitter will get the details of program on Tuesday and CEO will make discussion on the company�s Chirp developer conference. The business model of Twitter talked about as much as company itself since its debut in 2007. About $160 million of the venture capital has been pumped into the company and the executives have refused for getting a rush to make business plan in public. It is a controversial decision, which according to some people is wise and for others is short sighted.
Company considered many ways for making money and launched the search advertisements, which is the base of the phenomenal financial success of Google. It was less than an year ago, when there was discussion made at a conference that they are not pursuing advertisement because it is not interesting for them. The company would be launching paid accounts for businesses, which are geared for managing marketing and ****ytics, before the ending of 2009. Twitter rumored for launching the advertisement platform last month.
In FAQ posted Tuesday, the company made the slow and thoughtful approach for monetization. Over the years, the company has resisted for introducing a tradition web advertising model as they wanted to optimize for value before profit concept. Twitter�s appeal for advertisers comes at the time of the third party developers who have been building products with the servicing of past few years. The company has commissioned a BlackBerry app and acquired iPhone app Tweetie, which leads to some third part companies for complaining that it is once open for platform for making rigidity and preferential.
Chirp conference on Wednesday will have to address this invariable shift from a coder-friendly but unprofitable product into a legitimate communication business.
